Neon warning signs

Shortly after 9/11, there was a lot of talk about how no one would ever hijack an American airliner ever again – not because of new security arrangements but because an alert citizenry was on the case. But the years go by, and the mood shifts. You didn't have to be "alert" to spot Maj. Nidal Hasan. He'd spent most of the past half-decade walking around with a big neon sign on his head saying "JIHADIST. STAND WELL BACK."
Hassan is the first terrorist in history to give an academic lecture explaining why he was about to attack. Maj. Nidal M. Hasan, the Army psychiatrist believed to have killed 13 people at Fort Hood, was supposed to discuss a medical topic during a presentation to senior Army doctors in June 2007. Instead, he lectured on Islam, suicide bombers and threats the military could encounter from Muslims conflicted about fighting wars in Muslim countries.
It was reported that the audience was shocked and frightened by his lecture. He was supposed to speak on some medical topic yet instead talked on the topic: “The Koranic World View as it Relates to Muslims in the U.S. Military.” All you have to do is look at the 50 Power Point slides and they tell you everything you need to know. See here.
Yet, the powers that be debated whether or not he was psychotic but eventually decided the most sensible option would be to promote him. Now, where have we heard this before? In the UK there are those difficult quotas and targets to fulfil....
Our press, politicians and pundits fell over themselves to condemn the Danish cartoons. Failing totally to see them as one of the defining issues of our time. Critics remain forever in thrall to the blackmail of offending someone of Muslim faith. This is now entrenched in our hate/thought crime laws so we cannot criticise anyone - apart from straight, white men that is.
There is the recent report from the Quilliam Foundation, led by those ' former leading ideologues of UK-based extremist Islamist organizations,' telling us, yet again, that there is trouble in our prisons and that some of the 10,000 muslims in prison are being radicalised by convicted terrorists, see here. Last time the problem was radical Imams who are allowed to come and preach and mentor inmates.
It doesn't take Home Office funded, born again ex-Islamists to tell the population that ' we have a problem'. This will probably just enable the authorities to inform us after, God forbid, another atrocity that 'everything was done that could possibly be done' and that all the boxes that were present had been clearly ticked.
Meanwhile our governments – Westminster and Brussels are calmly building a surveillance state to monitor our every move, for our own protection!
